Smith Named boys Basketball head coach

[Laurel, MS, June 2024] — Laurel Christian School announced Coach Kelvin Smith has been named Boys Basketball Coach, effective immediately.

Kelvin “Dawg” Smith is an Ellisville native and a sixteen-year coaching veteran. He was the former head coach at Neshoba Central, where he guided the Rockets to the South State in the playoffs and won Coach of the Year honor.

Most recently, he was the assistant head coach at Pascagoula, helping guide them to five straight twenty-win seasons, ending with Class 6A South State runners-up and a final #7 state ranking.

Kelvin is currently self-employed as an abstractor. He also serves on the Jones County/Pine Belt North Fellowship of Christian Athletes board, where he is currently chairman. He is also a member of the Mississippi Association of Coaches. He and his wife Tina live at Lake Eddins in Pachuta.
