HEAD OF SCHOOL
Mrs. Jamie Rogers joined Laurel Christian School as the new Head of School in 2024.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master’s in Education from William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
Mrs. Rogers, a Pine Belt native from Collins, MS, is an experienced educator and administrator, with over 20 years of service in both private and public school education.
Prior to joining Laurel Christian School, Rogers was the “District Teacher of the Year” for Covington County Schools and served as the Principal of Collins Elementary and Assistant Principal of Taylorsville Attendance Center. She was also the Guidance Counselor and an administrator for Simpson Academy.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to serve Laurel Christian School as the incoming Head of School, combining my passion for education with my love for the Lord. I am committed to enhancing LCS’s long tradition of academic excellence and its dedication to nurturing students spiritually, mentally, and physically.”
She and her husband, Mark, have been married for 24 years and are proud parents of Katy, Anna Grace, and Andrew. She teaches the girls’ youth Sunday school class at Leaf River Baptist Church in Collins and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and reading.
OUR Philosophy
Laurel Christian School takes a spiritual approach to education. LCS is an extension of the Christian home and strives to encourage, support, and inspire students and families in a system of values consistent with the Word of God. It is our philosophy that students should have a Christ-centered view of the world, mankind and life.
This means that the entire program, the curriculum, the quality of teachers, the school policies, the methods, and the evaluation procedures will be based on a genuine commitment to the Christian faith and will be reflected in the way in which the task of education is carried out.
LCS is dedicated to academic excellence in a disciplined atmosphere.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe the Bible (defined as the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) to be the only inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God. It is objective truth.
We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, all of whom are the same in substance, equal in power and glory; and this Tri-unity (or Trinity) created the Heavens and the Earth, in the span of six days.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary death and successful atonement, the imputation of our sin to Him and His righteousness to us, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His present reign as King, and His visible and bodily return in power and glory. He is the only way, the embodiment of truth and life eternal.
We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the sinfulness of human nature, so that men are justified by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ shall one day raise the dead bodily, on the Day of Judgment, both the righteous and the unrighteous; at which time, the righteous shall forever see the face of Christ in unhindered glory, while the unrighteous shall endure endless punishment.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling ministry the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe that marriage was instituted by God, and is a covenant between a man and woman alone, as one, before God.
We believe that Christian mothers and fathers are to see their children as "gifts from the Lord", whom they are to bring up "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord". Children are to love, honor, respect, and "obey their parents in the Lord, for this is right”.
We believe that every aspect of our lives is to be lived for the glory (or honor) of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Crest AND MOTTO
The Laurel Christian School crest was first designed in 1993, and redesigned in 2018.
The crest itself is in blue, split into three distinct sections with the year of our founding, 1982, in the lower left and right of the crest. The bottom of the crest reads the name of our school.
At the center is the triquetra. It is formed by three intersecting circles, which represent the Trinity. This symbolizes the Unity of God. The three sections of the shield represent the three ways that God reveals Himself to mankind. In the top left, His creation, as revealed by His handiwork. In the top right, His Son, the victorious Lamb, as revealed in His Word. And in the bottom section, His Spirit, as revealed in hearts which desire to obey Him.
Lastly, along the top of the crest is the school motto: Educare Pro Aeternitate, which means “Educating for Eternity.”
HISTORY
In 1982, Presbyterian Christian School was founded as a cooperative effort of committed parents, teachers and the First Presbyterian and Trinity Presbyterian Churches of Laurel.
In July of 1997, the First Trinity Presbyterian Church graciously entrusted sponsorship of PCS to Audubon Drive Bible Church, and, in June of 1999, the name was changed to Laurel Christian School.
In August of 2001, the upper grades were moved to the Westminster Presbyterian Campus. In the spring of 2005, Westminster Presbyterian Church became a co-sponsor of Laurel Christian School.
